About the Event
2nd Annual Health Equity for All Symposium
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed existing cracks in the system, highlighting a complex issue of mistrust. While this is true, we also know the onus of mistrust should not be placed on Latinos, but on the historic legacies of policy decisions, unethical practices, and the persistent absence of Latino voices in healthcare conversations that eroded trust. This year's symposium will engage the roots of Latino mistrust in U.S Healthcare systems beside community members, ethicists and public health practitioners providing education and space for intentional engagement beside community members.

About the Annual Health Equity for All Symposium
Conferences have been places where academic and healthcare professionals ("experts") gather to share knowledge, resources and develop solutions for social issues. However, these conferences are often expensive and exclusive, shutting out the very communities these solutions aim to help. The Health Equity for All Symposium is an annual, free to the public, one-day conference that brings "experts" to have a conversation with, not just about, the community. Last year's successful symposium explored what bioethics can do for racial health equity and celebrated PCOS awareness month with partner organization, Resilient Sisterhood Project. The symposium had an unexpected turnout with over 100 attendees mostly from the community. We partnered with a handful of
organizations committed to racial health justice and gave awards to community leaders doing the work of bioethics at the margins!
